Who We Are

For more than 60 years, Catholic Family Service (CFS) has been delivering programs and services designed to help people work through issues like marital problems, family breakdown, trauma and abuse. Our mantra is humanity above all else, which means we don’t turn anyone away.

In 2017, our programs and services helped more than 9,000 people break the cycle of vulnerability.

We believe everyone is capable of living life to its fullest. In our experience, it’s less about where we live, what we have been through or how much money we have – it comes down to the quality of our relationships. When families get along – listen respectfully, show affection and encourage one other – they are more likely to come together during difficult times, not move apart.

Our ability to get along with the people in our lives – spouses and partners, siblings and our kids – creates a foundation for our quality of life. Things like accountability, trust and respect are essential to healthy and happy relationships.

And of course, it goes beyond the ties that bind. The relationships we have with our friends, neighbours, teachers and coaches also shape and enrich our lives, our communities and society as a whole.

“I attended Louise Dean Centre for one semester in the Fall of 1971. I was 17 and pregnant. To any teenager in the same situation today, I would say that education is paramount to any happiness, success, self-awareness and confidence you will have in your life. Today I am very proud that my daughter works with Catholic Family Service as a consulting psychiatrist. I am so happy that she is able to give back to the organization that helped me when I needed it the most.”
