Being pregnant or becoming a new parent can be overwhelming for anyone – especially at a young age. Becoming a parent may not have been in your plans, but if you are expecting or raising a child, we can help.

Getting support from a professional counsellor will address any difficult thoughts and feelings that may come up – things like a lack of confidence, changes in your relationships, depression, loneliness or feeling judged.

Catholic Family Service offers one-on-one, couple, family and group counselling to teen parents (age 20 and younger) who are registered or graduates of the Louise Dean Centre. Our services are part of a holistic, family-centered approach to support young parents and their children, as well as the extended family, on the path to stability and future success. Our focus on teen and young adult parents is vital in making sure they feel supported and equipped to handle anything that comes their way.

Group Counselling Programs

Turning Points – a 12-week, credit program that focuses on healthy relationships and domestic violence prevention, body image, self-esteem and addiction prevention.

Peer Support – peer-based group therapy that harnesses the power of story-telling to promote self-esteem, healthy body image, good mental health and healthy relationships. Young moms explore their personal journey into motherhood – their strengths and challenges – while building relationships with their peers. Participants have an opportunity to practice their public speaking ability by sharing their story with other junior and senior high school students.

Specialized groups are available for Indigenous students. Indigenous students connect with their culture through traditional art and spiritual activities and help build a community based on shared experiences, stories and friendship.

Whether you are interested in one-on-one, family or group-based support, help is just a phone call away. Our centralized intake process makes it easy to connect with us and get the help you need – where and when you need it.
