“After retiring from a long career in the oil and gas industry, I was looking for volunteer opportunities in which I could provide support for individuals who may be facing a variety of challenges or obstacles. The role of mathematics and science tutor in the Never Too Late program offered by Catholic Family Service checked off all the key elements I was looking for as a volunteer. Much of my career had centered on coaching and mentoring young engineers and I thought that this background might be well suited to giving back to the community. I have seen first-hand evidence of the desire of people to take the initiative to better themselves through study and hard work. Often, all that is needed is a supportive environment.”
