Deb Matejicka

On May 2, 2019 at the BMO centre, there was an energy in the room that was special and contagious. Our host, Deb Matejicka from Global Calgary kept everyone aware of the many activities as well kept the program moving.

Tim Tamashiro Quartet

Local talent, the Tim Tamashiro Quartet kept the room entertained and engaged.

Elevate's Auctioneers

Elevate’s auctioneers got hands flying during the live auction and kept our online action top of mind for bidders in the room and at home – this resulted in record totals for both auctions… in the 10 year history of our Gala

Our gifted video written and produced by Shaw, our articulate Never Too Late Graduate Raul Tapia and our remarkable CEO Patricia Jones truly inspired, educated and captured the purpose as to why we were all there at the #UPGALA2019!

Please enjoy these photos and videos.

Tickets for #upgala2020 will be on sale October 2019. Get yours early as we are hoping for another sell-out year.

Never Too Late

A high school education can open doors for jobs, school and training. Improving skills through education helps in everyday life and sets a good example for friends and family members. For adults, the idea of going back to school can be overwhelming. People who have been out of school for a short (or long) time may need a little extra support to help them along their way.

Catholic Family Service’s Never Too Late program provides no-cost academic, social and emotional support to adult learners who want to complete their GED (General Education Development or high school equivalency).

Never Too Late participants meet two evenings each week for 3 hours/night over a period of four and a half months, with access to volunteer tutors outside of class time. The Never Too Late Coordinator works side-by-side with participants to identify and overcome any barriers to completing their GED. The results: improved self-esteem, confidence, participation in community and higher success rates for adults who write the GED exam.
