The birdies have roosted and the Shaw Charity Classic golf tournament is over for another year. The PGA TOUR Champions event held annually at the Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club concluded September 1 with Scott McCarron winning the championship for the second year in a row.

Once again, the Unlocking Potential (UP) Foundation was selected to participate in the Shaw Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink charitable campaign. We set out to raise $50,000 through Birdies for Kids, encouraging our supporters to take advantage of a unique matching opportunity offered by the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation.

Now that all the birdies and pennies have been counted, we are pleased to announce that we achieved our goal thanks to many generous donors and our staff FUNdraising campaign.

These funds will be matched up to 50% and then used to support the hot breakfast and lunch program at Louise Dean Centre, a partnership between Catholic Family Service, Calgary Board of Education and Alberta Health Services that breaks down barriers to education for youth who are expecting a child or parenting.

On behalf of the young parents and babies at Louise Dean Centre, thank you for supporting Birdies for Kids.

The Unlocking Potential (UP) Foundation is the fundraising arm of Catholic Family Service. UP ensures the sustainability of innovative programs that build strong families and have a positive impact on future generations. Read more about the UP Foundation here.
