Catholic Family Service offers community-based
services to help young parents provide the best home life possible for themselves
and their children.
Community Outreach
- For youth ages
16 to 24.
- Home-based counselling support to
pregnant and parenting youth and their families, as well as parent and
child-focused groups in the community, and community school counselling.
- Working with Parenting Education Programs to provide
innovative programs that meet the different needs of our clients.
Parenting
Education Programs
- Support and education to empower parents
to create home environments that foster healthy child development.
- Provide support and parenting information
to youth (16 to 24 years of age) and their children (birth to 6 years of
age) through home visits, community parenting classes and outreach support
groups.
- Educate parents on proper parenting,
assessing the development of the child, and helping to prevent infant mental
health issues, all while establishing normal family routines.
- Referrals to professional and community
resources are made as needed.
Calgary
Achievement Centre for Youth (CACY) Program
- On-site childcare and parenting education
services are offered to young parents who are attending alternative high school
and employment programs at the Calgary Achievement Centre for Youth.
- Mom and baby receive specialized services
to assess the child’s development and help prevent issues with infant mental
health.
