Calgary teens who find themselves pregnant are often afraid and uncertain about their future. Many do not receive the support they need to be successful as parents or in meeting their financial needs. However, they all share the same concerns: “Can I finish school? What will my future be like if I choose to raise my child? How do I take care of a baby?”
The Louise Dean Centre can help.
Catholic Family Service recognizes that the experience of teen pregnancy and young motherhood can create barriers for young women to living a healthy lifestyle and successfully raising a family. The Louise Dean Centre helps teens and young mothers get past these barriers so that they and their children can lead a healthy lifestyle in a nurturing home setting.
The Louise Dean Centre is a partnership program with the Catholic Family Service, the Calgary Board of Education and Alberta Health Services. This unique program helps clients from 14 to 24 years of age address their educational and health needs, while also helping them deal with the emotional and social issues that come with teen pregnancy and parenting.
